Flowers lined the outer side walls of the Chapel Bridge.  Drawings above were intriguing!

Lake Lucerne

From cable car to boat --our boat awaits us by the edge of the lake.  From here we traveled to the city of Lucerne.

Snow on 30 August!! Snowball Fight Anyone?

Now from the Top of Pilatus Kulm

What a view from the top.  We stood on snow (lower left) and photographed a summer scene below!

Fresh Snow on Pilatus!!

Thirty seconds' ride above green pastures and we were faced with new snow!

We find it difficult to portray depth and slope in snapshots.

Mount Pilatus Cog Railroad

Kris Eby prepares to step onto the cog rail that will transport her to the peak of Mt. Pilatus, Pilatus Kulm.    This is the steepest cog railway in the world, traveling on a 48% grade in some places.

Jessalyn Miller, Kristopher Mast and Matt and Kris Eby tried this sport and really enjoyed telling us about their experiences.  Each rode with a pro.

Allen and Rhoda Blank

Allen and Rhoda enjoy dessert in the Piz Gloria's revolving restaurant.

The Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau

We were very fortunate to see all three peaks at once.  Often clouds cover most of the peaks if not all.

Sunshine and Blue Skies!!

What a treat to have a sunny blue-skies day for this majestic scenery!  Cold?  Yes!!!  Six inches of fresh snow had fallen on the Jungfrau on the night of 28 August.

Jonas Miller and the Jungfrau

The Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau were all quite visible from the Piz Gloria platform on the Silberhorn Mountain.  Revolving restaurant grants opportunity for glorious views while enjoying good food.

Stefan von Wartburg and Family

Stefan spoke to us on the need for reconciliation and the family sang a few songs for us.

No haze here on sunny days!!

Typical Scene

An Unusual Ice Carving

In a glacier on the peak of Klein Matterhorn, flowers display their beauty in ice!  We viewed several ice carvings in this chilly place!

A destination must - the Matterhorn!

The Klein Matterhorn lift takes the viewer to this closest possible point to see this famous peak unless he/she hikes.

An Alphorn Quintet

To play the Alphorn, the musician needs to have a good ear and the ability to produce correct pitches by positioning the tongue correctly.

Zermatt and the Matterhorn

First view of the Matterhorn!  For most, this was a favorite day!

Train Schedules

Quickly we learn how to read these!  This one at Bern Bahnhof is larger than most (excepting Zurich Hauptbahnhof).  Tourleader Wilson now directs the way - sometimes giving options, especially in the Lauterbrunnen area.

From Bus to Trains!

Bern Bahnhof!  Good-by to John Ruth, Wilmer Martin and driver JP.  Hello to that train schedule...we learn about that SWISS EFFICIENCY!

Cemetery by Langnau Mennonite Church

Langnau Mennonite Church is the oldest continuously-running Mennonite Church in the world.  The church continued to meet in the "Anabaptist caves" and other secret places during the time of severe persecution.

Great view in the Emmental

How can we capture all the wonderful views in the picturesque Emmental Valley?!?  Taken near a cheese factory...

Im Schloss Trachselwald

Knowledgeable historian John Ruth translates Hans Haslibacher's Lied (Song) for us in the Trachselwald Castle where many Anabaptists were persecuted.  Unfortunately we did not have enough time to stand and reflect on the severity of the conditions they experienced here.  Their faith was strong!

Plaque Remembering Felix Manz, Hans Landis and Others

At least six Anabaptists were martyred at this site between 1527 and 1614.  This plaque was placed here by the Limmat River in 2004;  note Grossmunster towers in background across the river.
